Polythene

Polyethylene (P.E.) A family of soft, semi-crystalline, Thermoplastic materials manufactured from ethylene (CH2 =CH2 ), with different structures: Branched macromolecules: P.E.-LD (low density) = high-pressure PE. Linear macromolecules: P.E.-H.D. (high density) = low pressure P.E. with higher crystalline content. A new metallocene catalysed P.E. is characterised by improved properties due to higher linearity. PE is a widely used bulk Plastic material.

Used to make bottles, films, sheets, detergent containers and electrical cabling. The density of P.E. is determined by the type of polymerization conditions under which the resin is made. High Density Polyethylene (H.D.P.E.) is commonly used in milk jugs, garbage bags and liquid detergent bottles. Low Density Polyethylene (L.D.P.E.)is found in common items such as bread bags, grocery bags and squeezable bottles and other products.
