Polyethylene Products

Polyethylene (sometimes shortened to Polythene or PE) is the most popular polymer in the world.

It comes in a number of forms depending largely on its density (hardness). HDPE, MDPE, LDPE and LLDPE stands for High, Medium, Low and Linear-Low Density Polyethylene respectively.

Polyethylene is lighter than most plastics making it economic for a wide range of applications from pipeline, milk bottles and plastic bags. It has good chemical resistance and low friction surface (feeling waxy like a candle) but poor thermal properties, melting around 120C.

Polyethylenes are generally translucent white to white in colour, although some LLDPE grades used for plastic bags are quite clear.
